You Don't Have to Be a Homeschooler to Enjoy this Blog

I asked my husband if he thought this blog was too specific, I mean, how many homeschooling families are Unitarian Universalist? I sat and thought about this question and came to the following conclusion- Yes, I am limiting my readers by including our homeschooling status as part of the title, and my initial goal was to connect homeschoolers to various lesson plans and ideas, similar to Christian homeschooling blogs.

However, you don't have to be a homeschooler to appreciate the lesson plan ideas, stories and various UU ideas. As the new RE director for our church, I believe this blog can also serve to connect others to Unitarian Universalism. (And if you know me, I am not preachy on the subject, I won't try to convert anyone. HA, lol.) So please, share this blog with others you know who are UU, and let them know, this blog is for You/them too.
(Does this remind you of, "this buds for you" commercial?)

  1. I am so glad you are writing a UU homeschooling blog. I have a number of friends who are UU homeschoolers (and for whom I am incredibly grateful). We are out there!

  2. Hi! I just found your blog today. We are a homeschooling UU family as well. It was a rough start to get our congregation to understand what we're about, as many of the older members are staunch public school supporters, but we finally succeeded in establishing an outreach program for other area homeschoolers who don't fit the Christian mold. We were going strong for a bit, but numbers have fallen again. It's tough to get strong willed, opinionated people into a cohesive group. :) One day at a time...

I'm currently devising a plan for using the principles as the backbone of our homeschooling. And I'm always on the lookout for ideas. I'm looking forward to reading your blog, seeing how you incorporate the UU traditions and faith.

  3. Hi Karen and Sam,
Thanks for leaving a comment. It is nice to know we aren't alone. There was an article many years back in the UU World about homeschooling. I think it is time that it is revisited. :)

Please share any ideas for lessons or any research you stumble upon.

    Karen
